Professionnal meetings ____ As with past years, the upcoming Rencontres Henri Langlois Festival will be a privileged opportunity for exchanges between the representatives of film schools worldwide. ____ This year, two round tables are organized: a "Europe-Asia" round table on Friday 11 December, and a round table on documentary writing in European film schools on Saturday 12. ____ These meetings will be the opportunity to develop links between the different representatives of film schools and to promote partnerships and cooperation. ____ > more information |

Jury We have the immense pleasure of welcoming Nassim AMAOUCHE to the 32nd festival jury. His first full-length film, Adieu Gary, interpreted by Jean-Pierre BACRI and Yasmine BELMADI, was awarded the Critics’ Week Grand Prix in Cannes this year. ____ In 2004, his presence in Poitiers did not go unnoticed: De l’autre côté received the Special Jury Prize. The Critics’ Week jury also awarded him the French Critics’ Discovery Prize, winning him a screening at Cannes Film Festival the following May. ____ Also on the jury this year are Laurence BRIAUD (editor), Claire BURGER (filmmaker), Frédérique MOREAU (scriptwriter) and Sébastien de FONSECA (producer). ____ > See full Jury |

40 films in Competition! ____ After hours of viewing sessions and heated discussions, the festival crew and its 15-member Selection Committee (photo) have picked the films which will have the opportunity to enter the competitive section of the Rencontres Henri Langlois 2009! ____ 32 schools accross 21 countries will be represented through 11 different programs. ____ Before more detailed information is available about each film, download the line-up! |

1284 films! ____ One month after the end of submissions, effervescence is gaining ground... Our selection committee is intensifying envenings of film viewing in order to decide between the 1284 films received during the last months! ____ Among all these films, originally from 220 film and audiovisual schools or university departments, representing 56 countries, only some lucky ones will have the chance to be projected in Poitiers on December. ____ Results of the deliberations at the beginning of October… |

Submissions are closed! Close to 31st of July, deadline for application’s reception, packages holding DVD and entry forms were numerous to flock from the entire world. ____ All haven’t been unpacked but we already count more than 1200 films trying their luck to obtain a place in Competition! ____ Selection committee gets ready for a busy summer’s end : viewings and debates in the offing. ____ Results of their deliberations at the beginning of October… |

Registrations are open! The 32nd Rencontres Henri Langlois, International film schools festival, will take place in Poitiers, on December 2009, from 4th to 12th. ____ Registrations to participate to the Competition's preselection are now open. Can be registered: films completed by students in cinema/audiovisual after January 1st 2008, of any running time or genre, and that can be projected in 35 mm or Beta SP Pal. ____ To fill in an online registration or to download the entry form, click here. |

2 films of the Festival 2008 awarded in Clermont-Ferrand! ____ Two films selected for the last Rencontres Henri Langlois have just been awarded in Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, one of the most important short film festival in the world! ____ Our congratulations go to Claire Burger, director of Forbach (La fémis, France) -Jury's Special Prize in Poitiers in december- who won the Grand Prize of Clermont-Ferrand's National Competition. ____ Congratulations also to Jaroslaw Sztandera, director of Luksus (PWSFTVIT, Poland), who won the Youth Jury Prize of the International Competition. |

10,000 Euros for a first film ____ The Rencontres Henri Langlois are associated with the Festival Images' from Vevey (Switzerland). ____ The Fondation Vevey, Ville d'images launch the fifth edition of a contest designed to support the making of first films: Grand prix européen des premiers films. ____ The contest is aimed at graduates from European cinema schools and audiovisual departments, classes of 2008, 2007, or 2006. Three projects of films will win a 10,000 euros' grant. Candidates must submit their project before April 30th 2009. ____ More information on www.images.ch |

Congratulations! ____ After numerous selections in festivals all other the world, and many awards as Best photography Prize and Public's Prize during the last International Film Schools Festival, Auf der Strecke (On the line) by Reto Caffi has just been nominated for the Best Short Film's Oscar. The Oscars ceremony will be held on February 22nd in Los Angeles. Good luck! |
