 | Pierre CHEVALIER :
Perre Chevalier was born in 1945 in Lyon, France. After philosophy's studies, and the viva voce of a Master's thesis named "The notion of power in Machiavelli", he enters the Ministry for the Arts in 1975. He is appointed head of the Aid for the Creation of the "Centre National des Lettres" départment in 1977. At the beginning of the eighties, he is Chief of the President's Staff at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Then during 7 years, he is in charge of the department of the selective aids of the Centre National de la Cinématographie (anticipated revenues, aid to short movies, etc.). Since 1991, he runs the Unité de Programmes Fiction of Arte france. This Unit, composed of ten or so persons, co-produced about 250 titles including 150 TV films unit (some of them came out on screen, such as "Marius et Jeannette" from Robert Guédiguian, "Le peril Jeune" from Cedric Klapish, "Beau travail" from Claire Denis, or "Ressources humaines" from Laurent Cantet). The Unit has also undertaken about 20 series and mini series among which "Tous les garçons et les filles de leur âge" in 1994, "2000 vu par" in 1997/1998", "Petites caméras", and "Gauche/Droite" in 1999 and 2000. At the moment the Unité Fictions is preparing a collection of 10 TV films entitled "Masculin Féminin" on the theme of parity, as well as a collection in the theme of adventure called "Aux quatre coins du Monde". For the last two years the Unit has been favouring the digital network and furthermore developing a politic of co-production with numerous black African countries.
