Mathematics teacher Karen is involved in a car accident in which a woman on a scooter dies. She is not guilty but she feels agitated. The dead victim Miriam was the sister of her student Lukas.
Soviet Lithuania in 1983. A small girl lives with her grandfather and younger sister. They lives in the lonely countryside. She gets hungry and cuts off the head of her "best friend" – a chicken. She grows-up and stay hungry.
