Barnz and Shaena live together in a Welsh travelling circus. Barnz acts as Shaena’s counterweight as she vaults through the air. Each depends on the other, both on stage and off. The show is about to go on, but sometimes birds get vertigo too...

In a small Turkish village, doomed to be flooded by the construction of a dam, an unemployed widower wants to celebrate his birthday of his child, who dreams of flying like Spiderman.
 

Jury's Special Mention

Suzanne by Julien Monfajon and Baptiste Janon

Fiction - 2008 - 11 min

Suzanne is employed in a factory. She spends all day packing, dropping off and carrying stuff. She remains connected to the outside world via a mobile phone which today takes her away from her daily routine and lets her fly away towards dreams and desire.
 

French Critics' Discovery Prize

Never drive a car when you're dead by Gregor Dashuber

Animation - 2009 - 10 min

A clumsy protagonist discovers a long forgotten piano. Music takes him into town where he ends up playing a final funeral march followed by all and sundry.
 

Public's Prize

The Last Page by Kevin Acevedo

Fiction - 2008 - 21 min

Writer Jason Adams has spent months trying to finish his novel. It has now become an obsession.
 

Student Jury's Prize

Elkland by Per Hanefjord
